For Online Credit Card Gifts -
No, Communities Foundation of Texas takes care of issuing tax receipts for North Texas Giving Day. Organizations should certainly thank their donors but never issue them a receipt for their online credit card gifts. During Scheduled Giving, the donor immediately receives a “Thank you for scheduling your gift” email. Then, once the transaction is processed on Giving Day, the donor is emailed a receipt.
For Offline and Matching Gifts -
If your organization received an offline or matching gift, do give the donor a receipt for the gifts that you process for them.
What do you do if a donor reaches out to you and says that they didn’t receive a receipt?
There are a couple of options if a donor reaches out to you about their receipt:
- You can ask the donor if they created a donor account on the website. If they did, the donor can login to their account and resend the receipt to their email address
- As a nonprofit, you can also resend a receipt to your donors through your nonprofit portal. Login to your organization's page and visit the "Donation Information" tab. You can generate a duplicate receipt by clicking the "Send Receipt" button to the right of the specific donation. This receipt will automatically be sent to the email address submitted by the donor when the donation was made.
- If neither of those options works for you or your donor, you can always refer them to us through our Help Center.
