RULES for North Texas Giving Day

  1. For purposes of awarding prizes, multiple donations from one donor to the same nonprofit will count as one gift.
  2. Organizations cannot donate to themselves.
  3. Gifts up to $10,000 are eligible to receive bonus funds. Bonus funds are awarded on a prorated basis and are calculated BEFORE any fees are charged.  It is not a dollar for dollar match.
  4. What does pro-rated mean? Prorated means that the bonus applied to each eligible gift will depend upon the total bonus pool and the total of donations. For example:  If the bonus pool is $1,000,000 and the total of all eligible gifts raised during Giving Day is $10,000,000, then the pro-rated bonus will be $.10 on the dollar.  So a $100 gift will earn an additional $10.00 for the nonprofit. The bonus percentage will be calculated and communicated to nonprofits the day after North Texas Giving Day (Sept. 15). Watch this video for an explanation of the bonus percentage.
  5. Credit card, debit card and donor-advised fund donations are eligible for bonus funds.
  6. Donations may not be used to pay for anything that might be perceived as a material benefit to the donor including dinner tickets, membership fees, golf fees, admission tickets, raffle tickets, event sponsorships or other gifts.
  7. Giving Day gifts should not be payments on existing pledges, payments for tuition, payments for event tickets or tithing.
  8. Grants from donor-advised funds at Communities Foundation of Texas, The Dallas Foundation, The Dallas Women's Foundation and the North Texas Community Foundation are eligible for bonus funds.
  9. Each gift is 100% tax-deductible and irrevocable.
  10. Giving Day gifts are considered unrestricted gifts to the nonprofit. A donor may express the desire that a gift be used for a specific program or project (in the notes field of the giving form), but it is the responsibility of the nonprofit to follow that instruction, not the responsibility of Communities Foundation of Texas.
  11.  Any third party who enters credit card information on behalf of a donor, by their actions of entering any such credit card information on behalf of a donor, has signified their agreement with the North Texas Giving Day's sponsoring organizations 1.) to assume all risk of loss and any liability associated with such transaction and 2.) to indemnify each of the sponsoring organizations of North Texas Giving Day against any and all risk of loss and any liability associated with such transaction. The third party is also responsible to forward the tax receipt to the original donor.
  12. Nonprofits who have not updated their Giving Day Profile between May 30, 2018 and August 15, 2018 will not be eligible to participate.
